How Does the Multi-Disc Screw Press Work?
The Multi-Disc Screw Press operates on a filtration mechanism after the coagulation-flocculation of sludge.
The system consists of a stack of alternating moving and fixed discs, each with varying diameters, based on the capacity and application requirements.
Sludge is fed into the unit, where it moves forward through the helical screw.
As it passes through the system, the sludge is gradually compressed between the discs, and the liquid is filtered out. The result is a dry, compact
sludge cake that exits from the discharge side.
Working Principle:
Flocculation: The sludge undergoes a coagulation and flocculation process to agglomerate the particles.
Thickening: The sludge is thickened by the press, reducing its volume.
Dewatering: The final step where moisture is removed from the sludge, forming a solid cake.
